CELEBRATING NOXOLO & JOSHUA ~ A Dear Rae Wedding
Posted by KARIN MATTHEE
Few things come close to the pure joy of a perfectly played out wedding tale. We recently chatted to the lovely Noxolo about her engagement to Joshua, the rings we custom designed for them, and their idyllic wedding which was such a beautiful reflection of them as individuals, as well as the wonderful relationship they’ve nurtured together. Noxolo shares her thoughts on their Dear Rae jewels and reminisces about her special day.
Our Dear Rae rings
We wanted our rings to be complementary, but also suit our individual personalities. Josh doesn’t usually wear any jewellery, so he chose a 3mm brushed white gold band – something subtle but robust. I, on the other hand, have always loved anything yellow gold. I love that it celebrates darker skin! My engagement ring was the perfect surprise: a thin rounded 9ct yellow gold ring with claw setting containing a pear-shaped brilliant cut diamond.
Dear Rae did a fantastic job coaching us on the basics of purchasing as well as sourcing the stone, and really helped guide Josh towards the most delicate design. Together, we designed a complimentary wedding band – a 9ct yellow gold arch band featuring tapering diamonds in a 4 bead pave setting, polished and sitting flush. Absolute perfection.
The wedding day
Our wedding day was a perfectly warm Saturday afternoon in early November. It was everything I had ever dreamed of. Every detail was unique to us and just so beautiful.
Our desire was to have a wedding that was true to who we are: elegant, authentic and intimate. We did this the only way we knew how, which was to create something that would make our family and friends feel special and connected (quite literally by choosing longer and fewer tables in a smaller venue).
Walking down the aisle of the garden chapel, I felt a sense of incredible intimacy – even Josh couldn’t hold back the tears. We have always preferred being outdoors and keeping our love light-hearted. We wanted our special day to reflect this, so we kept everything white with softening touches of natural textures like wood – to hero the masterpiece that is creation. There was greenery, petals, ample natural light, and of course, lace.
