BUDGET

The cost of the ring depends on the quality and type of gemstone used. The price of a white diamond varies greatly and can make up 70-80% of the total cost of a jewellery design. Other gemstones like colour diamonds, sapphires and emeralds can also be used, and these are in more of an entry-level price bracket. A comfortable budget for a custom design ring is R20 000 and upward. It is possible to create a ring for less, but then either the size or the quality of the gemstone will be compromised and we would therefore rather encourage you to browse our ‘LUCY’ and ‘JUNO’ collections. It’s important to note that every gemstone is completely different, and that everything from colour to where it was sourced can influence the price. Please provide us with a budget range upon your consultation query, as this will allow us to source you the best possible diamond or gemstone within a costing range that you are comfortable with. *Please note that budget guidelines also apply to occasional wear such as pendants, bangles, and earrin

WHAT TYPE OF GOLD DO WE WORK WITH?

We work with solid 9ct, 14ct and 18ct yellow, rose and white gold. We also work with platinum. You can read more about our gold here. [link to Block 6: Gold, Recycling, & Heirlooms]. The different gold colours are obtained by the alloys added to pure gold (24ct.) Yellow gold’s alloys are silver and copper; rose gold’s alloy is copper; and white gold is either palladium or platinum.

CAN I BRING IN MY OLD JEWELLERY AND HAVE IT REMADE?

GOLD

Gold is a magnificent metal and something we absolutely love working with. Not only is it durable, but its colour is both spectacular and timeless - never rusting or tarnishing in any way. It is also a reusable commodity which can be melted down and reused multiple times. All our gold treasures are handcrafted using yellow, rose, and white gold in either 9ct, 14ct or 18ct.

RECYCLING

If you have solid gold jewellery that you would like to recycle in order to create something brand new, you can bring it into our studio where it will be weighed to establish the value. We do not design new pieces with the actual gold that you bring in, as it may contain other alloys that we cannot work with. We do, however, send it off for refining and provide you with credit for the value, based on the gold price on the day. Please note that there is a shrinkage and refining fee involved in this process, so 20% will be subtracted from the final value to accommodate for this.

HEIRLOOMS

Perhaps you have inherited a precious heirloom that does not necessarily suit your personal aesthetic, but you adore and covet the stones incorporated in the piece. We love the idea of upcycling your diamonds or gemstones, and would like to encourage you to bring us your heirlooms that you may no longer wear so we can custom design something new. Fine stones are our speciality. And we can reset them into a new, unique treasure that suits your style while retaining the sentiment of the original jewel.

Please note that we do not purchase any diamonds or gemstones from customers.
