A Magical Lion's Head Styled Wedding

A few of our Dear Rae pieces were featured in this whimsical shoot by Dehan Engelbrecht and Wildeflower on top of Lion’s Head in Cape Town recently, and to say that we’re delighted at the dreamy outcome would be a bit of an understatement. Just look how beautifully our gold pieces paired with the deep marsala tones of the orchids… We think we may have a little colour crush on our hands!

Well done to everyone involved and thank you for including us in this gorgeous floral wedding scene, overlooking our magical city.

From the shoot designer and florist, Wildeflower: Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and we wanted capture the the aspects which make up the essence of its attractiveness, and what better place to do this from the top of Lion’s Head Mountain, as it overlooks the city, the ocean and onto the iconic Table Mountain. With is vantage point, our vision was to create a look and feel which brought visual synergy to these three iconic aspects.

When conceptualizing this shoot, I wanted us to use nature and the elements around us to inspire the colour palette and theme, while still making it feel modern. We used green, as as the base colour, as it’s the Pantone colour for 2017, and overlaid it with colour. The inspiration for the colour came from the elements around us; the terracotta and natural buff tones were inspired by the terracotta-tiled roofs of the city that one see from the mountain, the other element which is awe-strikingly beautiful from up there is the ocean, so to complement this expanse of blue we brought in a grey-blue crockery set, and a spray of sea holly in the arrangements. Lastly, the pop of marsala cymbidium orchids was brought in to ground the design and give it depth. The gold in the cutlery, vintage gold candle sticks, and gold foiling on the stationery added a feel of luxury and style. This was beautifully complemented by the gold ring selection and choker from Dear Rae
